A British university student has been arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on suspicion of trying to smuggle 13 white T-shirts soaked with methamphetamine.
Mya Sakwa Mante, 20, is charged with possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute, among other charges.

Prosecutors said Saakwamante was arrested at LAX on November 2nd while attempting to smuggle methamphetamine into Australia, according to a criminal complaint obtained by FOX News Digital.

After she checked in for an international flight to Brisbane, Australia, customs officials discovered contraband in her case, according to the criminal complaint.

Prosecutors said the methamphetamine was “wet and caked to approximately 13 white T-shirts under the lining of the suitcase.” The remainder of the contraband had crystallized into a powder, according to the criminal complaint.

When authorities tested the white powder, it tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the criminal complaint. Together, the methamphetamine-covered T-shirts weighed about 13 kilograms, or just under 30 pounds.

Saakwa Mante was intercepted at the gate and asked about her suitcase. She admitted that the suitcase was hers and that she used Apple Pay to buy a white T-shirt from Target, according to the criminal complaint. She also admitted to having the receipt, according to the criminal complaint.

According to the criminal complaint, Sakwa Mante told officials that she was a university student living and studying in the United Kingdom and was visiting the United States for two days. She was reportedly on her way to Australia to meet her boyfriend, whom she had “never met in person”.
When officials asked her about the white powder on her T-shirt, she claimed not to know about it.
Officers took Saakwa Mante to a baggage checkpoint and confiscated two iPhones before arresting her.
