Britney Spears settles bitter legal battle with estranged father Jamie Spears

Britney Spears has reached a settlement in her legal battle with her estranged father, Jamie Spears.

The conservatorship case between the 42-year-old pop star and Jamie, 71, has come to an end, more than two years after the controversial legal arrangement that controlled her life and estate for 14 years came to an end.

Details of the lawsuit, which related to an unresolved dispute over Jamie’s request that Spears pay her legal fees, were not made public.

“It is our honor and privilege to represent, protect and defend Britney Spears,” the Grammy winner’s attorney Matthew Rosengart said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Friday. .

“Although her conservatorship ended in November 2021, her desire for freedom is now fully complete,” he continued. “As she had hoped, her freedom includes no longer having to attend court, engage with court or become involved in any legal proceedings regarding this matter.”

“Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father, and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored.”

Rosengart went on to praise Spears for the “remarkable success” she has achieved since the conservatorship ended.

Rosengart said Spears’ accomplishments “would not have been possible during her conservatorship.”
