Glen Powell’s New Series Sparks Online Debate

Glen Powell’s latest football series, Chad Power, debuted with a surprising appearance by internet personality Harry Welch, also known as “Hawk Tua Girl.”

However, this unexpected cameo stirred up controversy online when comedian Britney Ray Carrera alleged she had been replaced by Welch. Carrera discovered the change while watching the premiere with friends, which, understandably, caught her off guard.

The scene in question takes place shortly after Powell’s character, a disgraced quarterback, encounters Welch at a nightclub. Naturally, he references her well-known catchphrase, “spray on it!”

Carrera posted a video on social media where she and her friends were eagerly awaiting her appearance in the nightclub scene. When Welch showed up instead, Carrera couldn’t hide her shock, exclaiming, “Did they replace me with Hawk Tua?!”

Nicole Gallucci from Decider looked into the situation, trying to figure out if this was a setup or a genuine miscommunication, and it seems to be quite plausible.

Both Carrera and Welch later commented, with Carrera noting she wasn’t aware that the role had been assigned when she was contacted about joining the series.

Carrera took to her Instagram Story to express, “I’m not at all upset with Haley Welch. I hope one day she will show me how to spit on that thank you.”

Welch clarified that she had reached out to Carrera to clarify the situation. “Hey, I was tagged in many videos on @brittneyraeallday saying I’ve replaced her,” she explained, emphasizing they were on good terms.

Welch elaborated, “I didn’t know that the role had already been cast. I was simply asked to be in a TV series with Glen Powell. There was absolutely no malicious intent.”

Given that Welch’s character in Chad Power clearly states she never wants to revisit Las Holiday, it seems fans may not see any more of the social media star.

New episodes of Chad Power are available on Hulu every Tuesday.
