Brock Lesnar Makes WWE Comeback Amid Lawsuit Controversy
Brock Lesnar made a surprising return to WWE after a two-year hiatus, coinciding with ongoing legal battles involving Vince McMahon.
His appearance was marked by the familiar sound of his entrance music following Cody Rhodes’ victory over John Cena, where Rhodes secured the undisputed WWE Championship as the main event of Summer Slam at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night.
Lesnar’s last appearance was at Summer Slam 2023, where he executed his signature F5 move on a stunned Cena, paving the way for an upcoming match during Cena’s retirement phase.
The former UFC heavyweight champion has found himself in the spotlight due to allegations arising from a lawsuit against McMahon, filed by Janelle Grant, who accuses McMahon of sexual assault and sex trafficking. Interestingly, Lesnar wasn’t mentioned in the initial complaint.
Grant’s lawsuit emerged in January 2024, originally describing “a world-renowned athlete and former UFC heavyweight champion” without naming Lesnar. However, in a later amendment, she officially included him in the federal court documents.
Grant alleges that during contract negotiations in July 2021, McMahon requested Lesnar to create “personalized sexual content.” She also claims McMahon arranged for Lesnar to travel to Connecticut in 2021, which was purportedly tied to an undisclosed sexual encounter.
As for McMahon, his lawyer, Jessica Rosenberg, dismissed the inclusion of Lesnar as a “publicity stunt.” In her statement to ESPN, she criticized the lawsuit as “a smear campaign filled with falsehoods.” It’s worth noting that since the lawsuit’s inception, WWE has distanced itself from Lesnar, removing his merchandise from their shop and excluding him and McMahon from the WWE 2K24 video game.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges McMahon engaged in physical harm using various objects and accuses him and another WWE executive of orchestrating sexual assaults against Grant, including forcing her into sexual relations as a condition for her employment.
McMahon continues to deny all allegations, with his legal team labeling the lawsuit a manipulation of facts, claiming it lacks validity.
