Toyota Glow-Up Classic Showcases Local Talent During Super Bowl Week
A vibrant exhibition of local talent took place on Wednesday night, right in the heart of Super Bowl week. The Toyota Glow-Up Classic, a unique glow-in-the-dark flag football game, featured high school girls from the Bay Area. This lively event was held at the same venue as the Pro Bowl, specifically at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
While Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, is already a fan favorite, his popularity skyrocketed further when he took on the role of coach during the games.
“It was fantastic to coach these high school girls and see them out there competing, and I think it’s really commendable that Toyota organized such a fun event,” Purdy shared after the game. “With the Pro Bowl happening nearby, it really added to the excitement and those girls had a blast, scoring a touchdown and celebrating like it was the real deal. It truly was a memorable night.”
Purdy had a light-hearted take on Eli Manning, who was on the coaching board alongside Kylie Kelce. He mentioned that Manning wasn’t flawless, despite his best efforts. “They did well. I mean, Eli threw some flags that caught me off guard, but he made some nice calls,” Purdy joked. “I just wish we had a challenge flag to throw around!”
Interestingly, division rival Puka Nacua also joined as a coach, yet Purdy remarked how they managed to set aside their competitive differences, at least temporarily.
“We were pretty relaxed. We both enjoyed ourselves,” he added. “Puka is a fierce competitor, and I respect his game, but it was truly enjoyable to coach those girls and share some laughs.”
