Bo Nix once again made a strong case for himself as the Broncos’ starter against the Packers on Sunday.
Nix continued to impress Broncos brass by completing 8 of 9 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
He added 12 yards on three runs in Denver’s 27-2 preseason win at Empower Field.
The Knicks had a good run, but the Broncos head coach Sean Payton said he won’t announce the starters. After the match.
Knicks’ touchdown pass, a 2-yard pass to Tim Patrick, came with 13:14 left in the second quarter.
The 12th overall pick in this year’s draft rolled to his right and delivered a pass to Patrick just as he crossed the goal line for a touchdown.
Nix scored a field goal on the Broncos’ first possession, but a pass that was initially ruled a touchdown was ruled invalid after review, resulting in the missed touchdown opportunity.
The rookie was past the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball, meaning there was no chance of a touchdown.
That was a far cry from the game former Jets first-round draft pick Zach Wilson played against Green Bay on Sunday night.
Wilson, who was traded from the Jets to the Broncos in April, completed 2 of 6 attempts for 29 yards and was sacked twice for a loss of 13 yards (one of which was a safety).
Jarrett Stidham was 7 of 11 for 65 yards and one interception.
Earlier this week, Payton praised Wilson’s response to coaching.
“I like what I’m seeing right now, and that’s one of the positives of having a guy like him here,” Payton said. According to SI’s Denver Broncos report.
