Bronnie James Comments on Lakers Trade Speculation
Bronnie James mentioned that he isn’t paying much attention to the chatter surrounding the Lakers, despite the buzz about his father, LeBron James, possibly being traded. He remarked that a friend reached out to him about where he might play next season, which prompted some discussion—after Bronnie had been working out with the Lakers Summer League team.
“I didn’t see the news,” Bronnie said. “When he called, I was like, ‘What are you even talking about?’ Honestly, I’m not really focused on that kind of stuff.”
LeBron has been a subject of recent trade rumors, especially after he opted for a $52.6 million player option for the upcoming season. His agent, Rich Paul, stated that LeBron is keeping a close eye on the Lakers’ offseason moves to enhance their roster.
“We understand how tough it can be to win while also planning for future seasons,” Paul said. “We’re looking to find what’s best for LeBron as he continues his career. He wants to make sure every season counts,” he added.
Despite the speculation, Bronnie indicated he hasn’t had extensive conversations with his father regarding his future plans. “We don’t really delve into it much,” he shared. “When things like this come up, he tends to remind me not to worry about it and to focus on the present. That mindset helps me improve and stay on track, I think.”
Recently, the Lakers addressed a significant gap in their lineup by signing free agent center DeAndre Ayton, the first overall pick in 2018, who had a solid season with the Trail Blazers, averaging 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds in the last season.
