Bronny James goes undrafted on night 1 with LeBron on edge

Bronny James went unselected on the first day of the 2024 NBA Draft.

All 30 picks went through Wednesday night, but LeBron’s son’s name wasn’t called, leaving his NBA future up in the air heading into Thursday’s draft festivities.

It wasn’t particularly shocking that Bronny wasn’t drafted in the first round, as he was seen as a likely second-round pick throughout the draft.

Although he had the opportunity to participate in practices with other teams this summer, he only had two individual workouts with the Lakers and Suns.

The Lakers passed on Bronny with the 17th pick, instead choosing Dalton Knecht from Tennessee State.

Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, said Bronny won’t accept a two-way offer and will instead demand an NBA contract.

“This is nothing new,” Paul told ESPN. “The goal is to find a team that values your player and push them to get there. It’s important to understand the situation and realize this has been a strategy for many of my clients over the years, especially those who need development like Bronny. Mine is by design.”

LeBron posted an emotional message on social media on opening morning as his son looks to kick off his NBA career.

“There is no greater feeling in the world than raising my boys to be men,” LeBron wrote on Instagram. “Just seeing how far you guys have come makes me so happy as a dad!”

“Thank you for letting me be your dad and be there to guide you through life’s trials and tribulations!”
