The Los Angeles Lakers quickly put together a historic pairing of LeBron and Bronny James this season.
What the Lakers would do with Bronny was an open question after that, but that point now has some clarity. And that's something you don't often see in rookies who need to develop.
According to ESPN, the Lakers announced Thursday that Bronny has been assigned to the G League affiliate South Bay and is scheduled to make his developmental league debut Saturday against Salt Lake City.

However, Bronny is not expected to remain in the G League for the rest of the season. ESPN added that he plans to play only in the team's home games.
ESPN added that Bronny will bounce back and forth between the NBA and the G League as teams “manage his time on their respective rosters.”
Advice to MLB great Ken Griffey JR. Lakers' Bronny James: “Relax and have fun.''
As such, James will be on the roster when the Lakers play at home against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. After that, he will return to South Bay Saturday and make his much-anticipated debut, and this trend is expected to continue for some time.
ESPN reported at the beginning of the NBA regular season that the Lakers would keep Bronny on the roster until Nov. 6, after which the shuttle plan would be put into action.
That was always the plan from the time Bronny was drafted.
“The plan for Bronny to move between the Lakers and the South Bay was always the plan from day one,” Lakers coach JJ Redick said. ”[General manager] rob [Pelinka] And I talked about it. LeBron talked about it. ”
LeBron and Bronny made history during the Lakers' season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, becoming the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game.
However, Bronny's father understands that Bronny needs to grow up if he wants to become a regular player in the NBA.
“just [looking forward to] LeBron spoke to ESPN about his son. “As he continues to grow as a basketball player, whether we're here or a G League team is down, he just keeps getting better and better.” Just like us, you put in the work and get better and better. And we want to hold him accountable, and he's going to hold us accountable.”
As a second-round pick, Bronny is expected to spend time in the G League. That's because the candidates are usually developing players who can contribute to their respective franchises in the future.

However, the Lakers clearly see the benefit of keeping Bronny with his father and the current Lakers roster when the South Bay really takes off.
