This week, three teens were arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a junior varsity football teammate in an apparent harassment incident at James Madison High School in Brooklyn, the Post reported.
Two 14-year-old boys and a 13-year-old boy allegedly held the victim down, forced her to remove her clothes, and touched her “private parts,” according to the NYPD and officials.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at the Midwood school around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday.
School officials said the attack occurred after the team was left unsupervised in the locker room.
The three were arrested and charged the next day with forcible touching and false imprisonment, police said.
Officials said the Junior Ballistice football season was canceled following the attack on the 14-year-old boy, and officials from the city's Department of Education visited the school during an investigation.
The James Madison Golden Knights JV team's next game was scheduled for Sunday, but it was forfeited. public school athletic league Website.
Coach Jamil Thomas' team was scheduled to play South Shore High School.
One player's mother told the Post on Saturday that she has not received any answers from her parents regarding the incident.
“I really don't know what's going on and they won't tell me,” she said.
School and PSAL officials did not immediately respond to The Post's inquiries.
This disturbing incident marks the second time in more than a year for the team.
James Madison boys JV football coach Nicholas Nugent is accused of slamming the head of a 14-year-old player into a wall after he fell asleep during a team meeting in September 2023.
Nugent was arrested on September 18, 2023, and charged with multiple charges, including felony endangering the welfare of a child, harassment, and menacing. He pleaded not guilty.
The boy's mother, Deslyn Willock, filed a lawsuit against Nugent and the city in August for $2.5 million.
The case is ongoing. Mr Willock said his son lost consciousness during the assault and required six staples to be inserted into his skull and has not played football since.
Nugent could not be reached for comment and has not responded to the lawsuit.
In 2015, the Post reported that a teacher at the school had sex with a student every day.
At the time, the incident made the educator the fifth James Madison teacher in the past six years to be involved in a scandal at one of the city's largest high schools.
Founded in 1925, the high school's alumni include Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Comedian Chris Rock also attended this school before dropping out.
