They should have counted the chickens.
At least 15 crates of live chickens were discovered on a Brooklyn street early Monday morning after falling off a chicken truck and then escaping, threatening to cause delays in chicken traffic.
The crate was mysteriously discovered blocking the Cadman Plaza exit ramp on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway around 6 a.m., an NYPD spokesperson told the Post.
Police said they started falling out of a white box truck near Jay Street and Sands Street, but then littered a two-block area just beyond the BQE.
Video shows officers quickly removing boxes of live chickens from the road near the intersection of Old Fulton and Hicks streets, with the birds frantically chirping.
Other footage shows a car driver slowly passing by, wondering why the chicken is on the other side of the road.
Police said the bird was safely removed from the road and taken to a safe location. It is unclear exactly how many chickens were in each crate.
It was unclear which company the truck carrying the chickens belonged to, or who was responsible for abandoning the chickens.
According to police, the driver of the poultry truck went missing after the incident.
