Rory McIlroy shocked the golf world three days into 2024. McIlroy made some surprising comments about his golf on the English program LIV. stick to football podcast.
“I may have been a little critical of the players who went to LIV Golf at first, and now I realize that not everyone is in my position or in Tiger Woods' position, so , I think that was a bit of a mistake,” he said. “For the past two years, I’ve used this altruistic approach to see the world the way I want to see it.”
He even said that he would play in LIV events “if it becomes the IPL (Indian Premier League, cricket) of golf.”
After the internet picked up some of his quotes from that interview, Brooks Koepka's wife, Jenna Sims, decided to do a little trolling.
She posted a photo of McIlroy on her Instagram Story with four simple words:
“New year, new Rory.”
Of course the public discovered it, posted onlineRather than being deleted after 24 hours like Instagram Stories, they are kept forever.
Koepka also posted on social media about McIlroy's change of heart. He hilariously posted a Kermit the Frog meme sip tea.

“I'm not saying we've lost the battle with LIV, but we've just accepted that this is part of our sport now,” McIlroy continued.
It's truly shocking that the 34-year-old Irishman, who has been a marquee player on the PGA Tour for the past two years, would make such a statement. He has been an outspoken opponent of LIV Golf since its establishment.
Regardless of what people think about McIlroy's new position, he has other things to worry about, including ending his major championship drought.
Maybe this is his way of starting over with a new chapter.
