Brooks Nader acknowledges reliance on GLP-1 drugs, describes weight-loss medications as 'a support'

Brooks Nader Addresses Weight Loss Drug Addiction

Model Brooks Nader recently opened up about her ongoing struggle with addiction to weight loss drugs, despite her sisters’ intervention, which revealed a basket full of needles in her possession.

During an episode of her reality show, “Love Thy Nader,” viewers saw Nader’s sisters confront her after finding the needles used for GLP-1 injections. Brooks admitted that even though she recognizes the drugs aren’t beneficial for her health, she still uses them as a coping mechanism.

“What really surprised me was the number of people who reached out, saying, ‘I’m addicted to GLP-1 too, but I feel embarrassed to talk about it because of the stigma,'” she shared in a recent interview.

“I’m still using them,” Nader confessed. “It’s a crutch for me as well. I know it’s not healthy, and it really should stop. I’m being honest about that.”

Interestingly, she noted that her modeling career took off after she started the medication, explaining that clients had directly told her she needed to lose weight. “I asked my old agency for feedback and got a blunt response: I needed to shed 30 pounds. It didn’t upset me; I just thought, ‘How can I achieve that?'” she stated.

While she facilitated her career growth through medication, Brooks hesitated to endorse this path for everyone: “I’m not saying it’s okay or right, but I lost weight and booked so many jobs.”

Concerns over Nader’s health were raised by her sisters in a recent episode when she nearly fainted during a workout, attributing this incident to the medication. Grace Ann and Mary Holland, upon finding the basket of needles and medicine bottles, decided it was time for an intervention.

“Seeing all those needles together really highlighted the depth of the issue,” reflected Mary Holland. “This feels like over-prescription, and it’s quite alarming.”

Nader, who previously appeared on “Dancing with the Stars,” acknowledged that other models also use GLP-1 drugs, some agencies even favoring their use.

While recognizing that she needs to prioritize her health, Nader hasn’t curtailed her medication intake and even opted for bone broth to prepare for a magazine shoot instead of making more substantial diet changes.

“I know my sisters mean well, but I’m not sure how to process all of this,” she admitted. She added, “I think I have a complicated relationship with weight and food due to this industry, but I wouldn’t classify it as an eating disorder.”
