It's not uncommon for “Dancing with the Stars” pros to date their partners, as the dance competition show has spawned many relationships, including several marriages.
Rachel Goldberg, LMFT, PMH-C, a marriage and family therapist in Studio City, California, told Fox News Digital that the “intensity” of the show and the amount of time they spend together between practices and performances throughout the season makes it the perfect environment for romantic relationships to develop.
“First, they share a common goal: to win and to outperform the other contestants,” she explained. “This creates an initial bond and friendship. Then, because they're in close proximity, constantly touching and in each other's space, it triggers a physical reaction and increases attraction.”
Goldberg also noted that celebrities and professional dancers are in “high-pressure, anxiety-filled environments where they bond over a shared experience.”
“On the court, it's just the two of you, and all eyes are on you. The only person who can understand what you're feeling in that moment is your partner, someone you trust completely,” she says. “You share big emotions together, from the disappointment of a low score to the excitement of a win.”
“Finally, they are all very attractive people with media-worthy personalities, which makes their relationship even stronger. Ultimately, this intense, physically stimulating experience often leads to a romantic relationship. Whether that relationship lasts, however, is another story.”
