Browns refrain from making firm QB choices following Shedeur Sanders' performance

Cleveland Browns Quarterback Situation Heats Up

Kevin Stefanski, the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, has chimed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the team’s quarterback choices, especially after Shedeur Sanders’ notable debut in the preseason.

During a media session at training camp, Stefanski was asked if he had made any decisions about the starting quarterback for week one, particularly as they prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles in their upcoming preseason game. “I’m not there yet,” he responded, indicating that he’s still sorting through the options.

Uh, he didn’t really give a straight answer about whether Sanders would start against the Eagles, either. “By Wednesday or Thursday, I’ll feel better about the game and how we handle it,” he mentioned, leaving some room for interpretation.

Meanwhile, rookie Dillon Gabriel is back in team drills, aiming to secure a spot on the active roster. However, Kenny Pickett’s status remains uncertain as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

In the previous preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, Sanders made quite an impression, throwing for 138 yards and completing 14 passes, including two touchdown passes. Tyler Huntley also contributed with a touchdown pass, helping Cleveland clinch a 30-10 victory.

There’s some buzz around veteran Joe Flacco, who might have the upper hand due to his experience and familiarity with Stefanski’s offensive strategies. But, after that debut, Sanders has definitely caught some eyes with his performance.

The Browns currently have five quarterbacks active at training camp. Deshaun Watson is also on the roster but remains sidelined with a torn Achilles.
