Bruce Springsteen Critiques Trump in Recent Interview
In a recent interview with the New York Times, Bruce Springsteen didn’t hold back in criticizing President Donald Trump, labeling him as “stupid.” The rock star also implied that Trump’s actions resonate poorly with a significant number of Americans—around 77 million—indicating that “he fits the bill to some.”
Springsteen reflected on a mix of industrialization and growing wealth disparities in the U.S., suggesting that these factors made the environment ripe for demagoguery. “It’s hard to believe this idiot has come, but he has fitted the bill to some people,” he stated. “We all said, ‘This won’t happen here. This never happens in America,’ and yet here we are,” he added, emphasizing the shock of the current political climate.
Upcoming from Springsteen is “Track II: The Lost Albums,” which is expected to showcase a previously unknown song from his past. While discussing his work, he mentioned feeling the weight of history. “The past is always heavy on me,” Springsteen remarked from his opulent home studio, which reportedly costs around $1.5 million.
During his ongoing tour in Europe, Springsteen has taken to addressing political topics on stage, introducing songs that explore themes like “immigrant aspirations” and “city negligence.” Reportedly, tracks like “Lands of Hope and Dreams” and “Archaeological Sites of My City” have made their way into his setlist.
Springsteen also criticized the Trump administration, describing it as “corrupted, incompetent, and rebellious.” He labeled the 45th and 47th presidents—who won the 2024 election by a large margin—as “unjust presidents.” Despite his criticisms, Springsteen seems to hope that even conservatives will be interested in his forthcoming biographical film and music documentaries, titled “Springsteen: Please Bring Me from Anywhere.”
