Bruce Springsteen urges audience to pray for Trump after shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Amid ongoing criticism of President Donald Trump and his administration, Bruce Springsteen offered a prayer for the President and denounced political violence during a concert on Sunday night at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. This followed a shocking shooting at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner the previous evening.

Springsteen began the night by asking the audience to pray for military personnel serving abroad and for their safe return. He emphasized offering thanks for the injured, including attendees and officials linked to the White House Dinner for journalists. “We can disagree. We can criticize those in power,” he noted, “but there’s absolutely no place for violence in our beloved America.”

On Saturday, a man named Cole Allen allegedly breached a security checkpoint and opened fire, causing chaos at the WHCA event. President Trump was quickly escorted from the ballroom at the Washington Hilton Hotel, and videos surfaced showing attendees ducking under tables in a state of panic.

In a press briefing later that night, Trump praised law enforcement for their speedy response, commending the Secret Service for their effectiveness. “They caught him,” he said. “It was incredible how they acted.”

Allen, 31, from California, was arrested and is now in custody as authorities investigate the motivations behind his actions, preparing for an arraignment scheduled for Monday.

Springsteen, who has been vocal against Trump during his “Land of Hopes and Dreams” tour, recently released a protest song critiquing the administration’s handling of immigration. He has labeled the President as “corrupt” and untruthful. During one performance, he encouraged the audience to choose values like hope, democracy, and truth over negativity and division.

As details continue to unfold surrounding the events at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Bruce Springsteen’s reflections echo a hope for unity and peaceful expression amidst turmoil.
