Brute strikes elderly woman with golf club in NYC subway station

Police say a man hit a woman in the head with what appeared to be a golf club in another disturbing and unprovoked attack on the subway.

At about 7:30 a.m. Friday, the 66-year-old victim was standing by the turnstiles at the Cortland Street R/W subway station in the Financial District when a violent masked man attacked him with what appeared to be a fairway wood. He hit her with an object, leaving a cut on her ball. on the left side of his head, police said.

Police said the suspect fled with a golf club.

Authorities said no words were exchanged between the woman and her attacker.

The senior was taken to New York Downtown Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released video footage of the suspect Saturday and asked the public for information that could help identify him.
