3D Model Released After Coberger’s Guilty Plea
In a recent development, Idaho officials unveiled a 3D model of the house where Brian Coberger was convicted of murdering four University of Idaho students. This follows his guilty plea, which he entered on July 2. By pleading guilty, Coberger avoided the death penalty, instead agreeing to four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the first-degree murders and a felony robbery charge.
The Rata County Prosecutor’s Office shared images of the 3D model of the residence located at 1122 King Road in Moscow, Idaho, where the tragic events occurred. This house was demolished in December 2023, but prosecutors intended to use the model during the now-canceled murder trial.
During a hearing in June, the model was referred to as a “dollhouse,” although the term was later deemed inappropriate, with a shift to calling it a “model house.” The prosecutors’ images reveal the structure’s exterior and interior layout, including various rooms, but notably lacking any furniture.
Despite pushback from Coberger’s defense team, the model was authorized for use by the court for demonstration purposes, though it could not be admitted as evidence. This decision, made by Judge Steven Hippler, has been somewhat controversial, particularly among those involved in the case.

Following Coberger’s ruling on July 23, Judge Hippler lifted a previous gag order that had restricted the release of investigation documents. The newly unsealed records provided insights into the crime scene, noting that the victims Goncalves and Morgen were found together and “covered in a pink blanket with blood.”
In a separate report, police indicated that a significant struggle occurred during the attack, revealing the discovery of a tan leather knife sheath. They also noted what appeared to be defensive wounds in Kernodle’s hand.
