Bryson DeChambeau is a content machine and knows what will click.
He also always speaks his mind and doesn't hesitate to say anything that comes to his mind, especially when the cameras are rolling.
Tune in for practice rounds on Monday at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas. This is an ultra-luxury course where Tuesday's Crypto.com Showdown will be held. The event will pit two of LIV Golf's biggest names, DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, against two of the PGA Tour's top contenders, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. The last time McIlroy and DeChambeau were in the same venue was at the U.S. Open in June, when DeChambeau beat McIlroy in dramatic fashion by a stroke.
McIlroy, of course, missed two crucial par putts from within five feet on the 16th and 18th holes, helping DeChambeau win his second U.S. Open in four years. Meanwhile, McIlroy's 10-year lack of major championship wins continued.
McIlroy, who was well aware of what happened, expressed during Monday's practice why he wanted to win the showdown so much.
“I want him to give me back what he did to me at the U.S. Open,” McIlroy said.
it led DeChambeau responds with the best diss of all time:
“To be fair, you did it to yourself,” DeChambeau said.
The mark left McIlroy speechless, and everyone in attendance gasped and laughed in disbelief.
After a few seconds of muttering and laughing, all McIlroy could say was, “I really don't know where to go from there.” And who can blame him? He suffered one of the most heartbreaking finishes in U.S. Open history, and unfortunately had to relive that horrific finish on Monday.
But on the other hand, this little incident could light a fire under McIlroy and give him even more motivation to snatch a victory on Tuesday night.
