The son of Buc-ee’s co-founder Don Wasek has been convicted of 21 charges for secretly filming partygoers using the bathroom at the family’s lakeside Texas vacation home, according to the Travis County District Attorney’s Office.
A grand jury returned six separate indictments on May 17 against 28-year-old Mitchell Wasek, charging him with 21 counts of invasive visual recording.
The charges relate to 13 victims whom Wasek allegedly secretly recorded over a period of about two years, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Mitchell Wasek was arrested in October 2023 and initially faced 28 charges of invasive visual recording, according to online records and the Austin American-Statesman.
According to an affidavit obtained by the Journal, a guest at Wasek’s family home on Lake Travis reported the incident to authorities in May after finding a charging port for Wasek’s camera hidden in the bathroom wall.
Witnesses retrieved a camera from the lakeside home and reviewed its contents, which included recordings of guests “in a variety of outfits,” The Statesman reported.
The cameras captured footage of 13 people in bathrooms at the lakeside home and two other locations, including an apartment in Austin and a home in Telluride, Colorado, owned by the Wassek family, The Statesman reported, citing property records and police affidavits.
The recordings reportedly show people “using the toilet, showering, changing clothes and engaging in sexual activities.”

“The Travis County District Attorney’s Office takes its work to present all of the facts and evidence to the grand jury very seriously,” Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza said.
“In this case, a group of independent Travis County community members heard the evidence and the law and determined that Mr. Wasek’s actions were unlawful.”
