Bunny named wellness officer at California police department

This bunny got a badge.

At the Yuba City Police Department in California, a rabbit was given the status of “health officer” in time for Easter.

The rabbit story started from the roadside.

Last year, YCPD officer Ashley Carson, about 40 miles north of Sacramento, found a stray rabbit on a local street and brought it back to the train station.

After an unsuccessful attempt by Animal Control to locate the family, a Police Service analyst took it and named it Percy the little cottonbird.

on Wednesday, The department posted the relief news of Percy’s new title on FacebookThe wellness program, open to employees and their families, “provides tools and resources to reduce stress and create a positive foundation for wellness.”

Department officers took a liking to a rabbit that went missing on a local street last year.

“Cop Percy hangs out at the police station during the day and is a support animal for everyone,” the post said.

“Most people enjoy being with him, but some people are still used to the idea of a rabbit being inside a police station.”
