(Nexstar) – Over the past year, several retailers are shutting down locations, which might come as a surprise. At the same time, Spirit Halloween is opening new stores. Notably, one off-price retailer is planning to launch numerous locations in the coming months.
Burlington, which already boasts over 1,100 stores across nearly every state in the U.S., had announced its goal to open 2,000 stores back in 2020. Since then, they have introduced several smaller formats and are following trends set by other retailers.
By October, Burlington expects to open 60 new stores across 26 states and Puerto Rico.
Recently opened locations include St. Georges Avenue in Woodbridge, New Jersey; Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, New York; and Pecan Park Boulevard in Cedar Park, Texas.
The rest of the new Burlington stores will primarily open in October, and here’s a quick look at where they’re expected to pop up:

Burlington has also posted job openings for these new locations online.
It’s interesting to note that at least 11 of these new Burlington outlets will be establishing themselves in areas where former retailers have recently closed. This includes buildings that used to host chains that filed for bankruptcy last year, some of which have recently reopened under different management.
