Bus accident in DC leaves three hospitalized after striking a restaurant

Three individuals were hospitalized following a collision involving a city bus that crashed into a well-known restaurant in Washington, D.C., early Saturday morning, hitting the empty dining area.

The D.C. Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene at 7th Avenue and Q Street NW after the bus struck another vehicle before careening into Amber Restaurant, located in the Shaw District. The bus ended up inside the restaurant, which fortunately was unoccupied at the time.

Fire officials reported that four people were assessed after the incident, with three adult women taken to a hospital suffering from minor injuries.

Firefighters ensured the area was secure and conducted a search of the building. A specialized team was sent in to evaluate the building’s stability. Later, they confirmed that the bus had been safely removed and noted that there was no significant structural damage; shoring was deemed unnecessary, and the site was cleared.

As of now, the cause of the crash remains unknown, and it’s not clear how many passengers were aboard the bus during the accident.

The restaurant, AMBAR, is a Michelin-recognized Balkan establishment in D.C.’s Shaw District, popular for its unlimited brunch and dinner offerings.

WMATA and the D.C. Fire and Rescue Department have yet to provide comments regarding the incident.
