Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is pushing Congress to allocate billions of dollars to bus more border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States.
At a news conference Monday near the U.S.-Mexico border in Eagle Pass, Texas, Mayorkas came to his defense, accusing his critics of lying about his record as Secretary of Homeland Security under President Joe Biden. criticized.
“Some have accused DHS of not enforcing our laws. This could not be further from the truth,” Mayorkas said.
Under Mr. Mayorkas' direction, DHS has overseen record levels of illegal immigration each year. In fiscal year 2023, more than 3.2 million illegal aliens were encountered at the border, nearly 2.5 million of whom arrived at the southern border.
But Mayorkas urged Congress to pass Biden's supplemental budget request, which the White House issued in October 2023. This would result in billions of additional U.S. taxpayer dollars being spent on arresting, detaining, and releasing millions of illegal aliens into American society.
“We need Congress to provide the additional funding that President Biden requested months ago,” Mayorkas said.
We need more Border Patrol agents and case handlers so Border Patrol agents can be on the scene. doing heroic work, which is their basic mission. Additional staffing is needed to ensure that a surge in migrants does not force last-resort mitigation measures, such as bridge closures. We need more asylum officers and immigration judges to help resolve asylum cases quickly. The goal is to grant relief when warranted, remove immigrants when it's not, and reduce the 3 million-strong immigration court backlog that has been growing for years. . [Emphasis added]
Is required More techniques to combat fentanyl smuggling through ports of entry and more A facility for processing and detaining immigrants during immigration enforcement proceedings. We need more transportation funds To facilitate increased transportation, increased resources for detention beds and alternative detention facilities, and to strengthen the Family Emergency Relocation Management (FERM) process. [Emphasis added]
The pace at which Mr. Mayorkas' Department of Homeland Security is releasing border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States is already unprecedented in history. As Breitbart News reported, those who arrive at the southern border have less than a 5 percent chance of being deported from the United States by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Bill Melgin of FOX News said, report Mr. Mayorkas privately admitted to DHS officials that the rate of release of border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States exceeds 85 percent.
