Former President Donald Trump has reshaped the old great political party (GOP) with new faces for the 2024 Republican National Convention.
Trump has cast the GOP as a working-class, America First populist party, and some of the most familiar faces of the GOP establishment from the past two decades will not be with him at the convention, a sign of the party’s transformation under a politician who is attempting the greatest comeback in American history.
Mainstream members who will not be attending the RNC include:
- Former President George Bush
- Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney
- Retiring Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah)
- Former Vice President Mike Pence
- Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan

In contrast, here’s who will appear at the 2024 Republican National Convention:
- Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio)
- Sean O’Brien, President of the International Brotherhood of Truckers
- Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL)
- Nevada Senate Candidate Sam Brown
- Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY)
- Vivek Ramaswamy
The speakers reflected a new Republican Party that seemed to recognize the anxieties of American workers who believe that the establishment is controlling America’s decline. In theory, the working class pays taxes and pays the highest price to promote “democracy” abroad, while the establishment enjoys a cocktail party with a stock portfolio tied to global markets.
Two speakers in particular highlighted the new Republican Party. Trump’s vice-presidential pick, Vance, is a hard-line populist from a Midwestern state. His book, Hillbilly Elegyanalyzes modern American life and offers suggestions for policy reforms needed to combat the global elite’s war on American workers. His assessment of the nation is in stark contradiction to the ideology of many who will not be attending the 2024 Republican National Convention.
“President Trump’s vision is so simple, yet so powerful,” Vance said. Said In a speech to the party’s convention on Wednesday night, he said: “Followers, it’s time to end our days pandering to Wall Street. We’re going to work for working people.”
O’Brien, president of the International Teamsters union, delivered the historic speech on Monday night, the first day of the convention. The Teamsters union typically supports Democrats. In his speech, O’Brien blasted the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for its opposition to President Trump’s economic nationalist policies as waging a war on American workers.
“President Trump has the courage to open the door to the Republican National Convention, which is unprecedented. No other candidate in this race would have invited the Teamsters onto this stage,” he said. “Have whatever opinion you want now, but one thing is clear: President Trump is a candidate who is not afraid to let new, vocal and often critical voices be heard.”
