C-SPAN has dismissed rumors circulating online that a caller who criticized the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Donald Trump’s tariffs during a live “Washington Journal” show was the former president himself. They clarified that the caller, who identified as ‘John Barron,’ was not Trump.
The network noted the call originated from a number in central Virginia, coinciding with a public meeting Trump was attending with governors at the White House.
C-SPAN’s post confirmed, “There’s no need for speculation. It wasn’t the president,” and encouraged viewers to watch the actual State of the Union address the following Tuesday.
Speculation about the Caller’s identity intensified after he expressed displeasure with what he termed a “terrible decision” by the Supreme Court, which revoked several of Trump’s tariffs. His comments included criticisms of politicians like Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, which echoed Trump’s distinct style.
Interestingly, the C-SPAN host identified the caller as a Republican from Virginia, leading to further discussions on social media, where some suggested that Trump might have briefly stepped aside to make the call or even pre-recorded it.
“It’s evident that these people are satisfied, but real Americans would not feel the same,” the caller asserted.
While some dismissed the idea that it was Trump by labeling the situation as a prank, others pointed to references from the past when Trump allegedly used the name ‘John Barron’ to pose as his own spokesman.
