NYC Taxi Driver Faces License Revocation After Anti-Semitic Incident

A New York City taxi driver, involved in a disturbing incident with a Jewish passenger in Manhattan, is at risk of losing his license permanently. The driver was seen in a video, which gained significant attention on social media, hurling offensive remarks at his passenger.

“You guys are looking for trouble, yes, you’re Ah-King Jews!” he shouted, as showcased in a video shared by a Jewish Hate database account on Instagram.

The video has attracted over 5,500 likes, and the driver reportedly became enraged after the fare increased, seemingly ignoring the passenger’s directions.

The passenger responded calmly, saying, “You realize you lost your license, right?” to which the driver defiantly replied, “No, you’re going to lose your license.”

The account that posted the video emphasized that the incident was not just about a wrong turn but stemmed from deeper antisemitic sentiments. They urged viewers to report the driver, asserting that every Jewish New Yorker deserves safety and respect during their journeys.

City officials are taking this matter seriously. The chairman of the Taxi and Limousine Commission, David, expressed his disgust regarding the incident, stating, “Hate is completely unacceptable. There is no place for it on our roads.” He confirmed that efforts are underway to identify the driver and move towards revoking his license.

The TLC has already contacted the individual who shared the video, which has facilitated their investigation. They encourage anyone witnessing driver misconduct to report it promptly, using city resources such as 311 or 911.

As of now, there are no identified victims from the Jewish community. The account that posted the video has yet to respond to further inquiries.

Reactions to the video have been overwhelmingly negative. One rabbi pointed out that the driver seems to be seeking notoriety in a harmful manner, while others called for his license to be revoked.

This latest incident adds to a troubling trend of anti-Semitic attacks in New York City. Just a few months ago, there were arrests related to other anti-Semitic actions, and NYPD data shows that a significant percentage of hate crimes in the city were aimed at the Jewish community.
