Clemson Quarterback Addresses Car Accident Rumors
Cade Klubnik, the quarterback for the Clemson Tigers, recently spoke out against false rumors that spread online after he was involved in a car accident over the weekend.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Klubnik shared an emotional moment when his mother called him in tears, concerned about his well-being. “I was just at home with my roommate when I got the call,” he explained. “She was worried about whether I was okay. That was the first I had heard of it, and then my phone started blowing up with calls and texts.”
The rumors began circulating on a Clemson fan message board, claiming that he was injured and unable to move his arm. Klubnik dismissed it as “a crazy joke.”
“I don’t know who started this, but they really need to reconsider the impact of their words,” he added, expressing frustration over the distress caused to his family. “Honestly, I’d prefer not to dwell on it any longer, but it was definitely a messed-up joke.”
Klubnik is a crucial part of Clemson’s football team, which is ranked fourth in the Associated Press Preseason College Football Poll. Last season, he threw for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns, helping the Tigers finish with a 10-4 record. The team had a strong conference performance, going 7-1 against ACC rivals, though they faced an early exit in the College Football Playoffs against Texas.
The Tigers are set to kick off their season against No. 9 LSU this Saturday night.
