‘Cagney & Lacey’ star Tyne Daly replaced by ‘Office’ actress Amy Ryan on Broadway after hospitalization

“Cagney & Lacey” star Tyne Daly was forced to leave Broadway’s “Doubt: A Fable” after she was “unexpectedly hospitalized” with an illness during preview screening.

The 77-year-old will be replaced by Amy Ryan, actress of “The Office” and “Only Murders in the Building.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Roundabout Theater Company said in a statement: “Mr. Daly was unexpectedly hospitalized on Friday and unfortunately has to step down from the show while he receives treatment. Thankfully, he will make a full recovery. This is expected,” the statement said.

Daley’s replacement Isabel Keating will play the role until February 11th, with Ryan taking over from February 13th. Previews begin February 2nd, and the show will run through April 14th at the Todd Hymes Theater on 42nd Street.

“I would like to express my respect and admiration for Ms. Tyne and wish her a safe and speedy recovery,” director Scott Ellis said in a statement, according to the newspaper. “We are grateful that Amy Ryan immediately said yes to joining us and taking on the role of Sister Aloysius. We are deeply grateful to Isabel Keating for allowing us to stand up for this first week of performances. ”

Daley became famous for playing Detective Mary Beth Lacey, opposite Sharon Glesse, in the female-led police drama Cagney & Lacey, which aired from 1982 to 1988.

She also played Maxine Gray in Judging Amy from 1999 to 2005, and the head of the US Department of Loss Prevention in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
