CAIR Criticizes Trump's Attack on Iran's Nuclear Facilities: 'Unlawful and Unwarranted'

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities, labeling it an “illegal and unjust act of war” against the administration.

On October 7, 2023, KEIRA Executive Director Nihadwad expressed support for the terrorist attacks on Israel, stating:

We denounce President Trump’s illegal and unjust military actions against Iran. It seems like Iran’s pursuits are being prioritizes over what’s best for the American populace, putting our nation at risk of broader conflict in the region. This attack, I think, was largely under pressure from the Israeli government. It’s troubling, especially after years of our intelligence community concluding that Iran does not aim for nuclear arms.

It’s reminiscent of how President Bush started the tragic war in Iraq, driven by Israeli figures and neoconservatives. Now, President Trump seems to be repeating history by acting on misleading information from those who continuously seek to drag us into unnecessary wars.

The actions of Netanyahu’s indicted government appear, well, almost conspiratorial, eager to involve the U.S. in further aggression in Gaza and other regional conflicts. Frankly, it feels like President Trump walked right into an Israeli trap.

We need to halt further actions against Iran and end support for governments that perpetuate violence, starvation, and destruction across the region.

As pointed out by Breitbart News, CAIR has previously shown rhetorical support for terrorist attacks within the U.S.

Back in 2007, CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development’s trials regarding terrorist financing. At that time, the FBI ceased collaboration with CAIR due to their connections with Hamas. A federal judge later confirmed that there was sufficient evidence linking CAIR to Hamas. Additionally, in 2014, the United Arab Emirates designated CAIR as a terrorist organization, a label assigned during the Obama administration.

Democrats often align with CAIR and frequently collaborate with organizations aiming to represent Muslim interests.

Jamal Khashoggi’s group also echoed similar views towards the current situation in the Arab world:

“Trump’s unprovoked and unauthorized attack on Iran not only violates international law but also contradicts the U.S. Constitution, which reserves the power to declare war for Congress,” stated Dawn’s executive director, Sarah Leah Whitson. “Trump has carelessly initiated a conflict that undermines American interests to cater to Israel’s demands, breaking his promise to put our country first.”

“President Trump’s actions might provoke retaliation from Iran. Congress should swiftly approve a resolution to restrict U.S. military engagement, especially in cases of retaliation. We need to focus on de-escalation, not more military action.”

“Trump has completely aligned with Netanyahu, pulling the U.S. into a conflict that distorts American interests,” remarked Michael Schaefer Omerman, director at Dawn. “The UN General Assembly must promptly pass a resolution to hold both Israel and the U.S. accountable, demanding an end to this campaign against governance.”

Breitbart News also noted that Dawn had urged the Biden administration to impose sanctions on Israel, though those sanctions faced legal challenges and were later lifted by the Trump administration.
