Levi’s Stadium, though not in the immediate spotlight of Hollywood, showcased a notable attendance on Wednesday evening for the World Cup Round of 32 match featuring the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The celebrity scene, while not as star-studded as SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles—where names like Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Katy Perry came out for the group stage—still brought its own flair. There were plenty of recognizable faces on one of the most significant nights in U.S. soccer history.
Among the supporters were three women intimately familiar with what it takes to thrive in the FIFA World Cup finals. Kerry O’Hara and Alex Morgan, both two-time World Cup champions, were there, as was former USWNT head coach Jill Ellis, who guided the U.S. to consecutive titles in 2015 and 2019.
And if those soccer legends weren’t enough, the stands also included former USMNT captain Landon Donovan and ex-goaltender Casey Keller, not to mention 1994 World Cup defender Alexis Lalas. Basketball star Caitlin Clark made a surprise appearance as well, taking a break from the WNBA to watch Team USA compete.
As the match progressed, tension heightened after USMNT striker Folarin Balogun received a contentious red card in the second half.
In a suite, internet sensation iShowSpeed brought his usual excitement to the game, particularly after Malik Tillman’s stunning free-kick goal in the 82nd minute that kept hopes alive for the U.S.
This midweek event also drew several members from the 49ers’ NFL roster. Notably, players like Ricky Pearsall, Isaac Guerendo, and Malik Mustafa were spotted, along with former linebacker Curtis Robinson, now with the Cowboys.
Interestingly, All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner was seen just a day prior at Estadio Azteca for the Mexico versus Ecuador match and made it to watch Team USA’s game as well.
It was a night to remember as the U.S. triumphed over Bosnia and Herzegovina with a 2-0 score—marking only the second time in their history that the United States advanced in a knockout round.
As World Cup festivities unfold across North America, celebrity support seems to be everywhere—from actors like Tom Cruise and Mike Myers to athletes such as Connor McDavid and Peyton Manning, not to mention singers like Shakira and Olivia Rodrigo.
Regardless of who’s playing or where, the World Cup certainly shows itself to be a captivating spectacle.
