Caitlin Clark has given her support to Fever coach Stephanie White, who received a technical foul during a crucial moment in a recent game, as per White’s remarks.
With just over five minutes left in the fourth quarter and Indiana leading the Aces by 23 points, White was animated on the sidelines. She showed frustration when she reacted strongly to the officiating.
When asked about the growing tension and fouls during the game, White smiled and casually noted that Clark felt the impact of the situation.
“I wouldn’t say frustration boils over like that,” White mentioned to reporters. “Caitlin told me she got me. She got the bonus.”
White’s comments referred to Fever’s recent victory in the Commissioners Cup, highlighting the $500,000 prize that players earned throughout the season.
This is White’s first year coaching Clark and the Fever, and she’s been straightforward about her feelings regarding the officiating, especially after a narrow loss back in May where she felt a crucial foul was missed.
The Fever started the season with a 9-8 record following an 81-54 victory on Thursday, but Clark has missed time due to injuries, averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game this season.
The Fever is set to face the Sparks on Saturday, though it remains uncertain if Clark will be back in the lineup. Earlier this week, White indicated that the team is being cautious with her recovery to avoid any setbacks.
“Feeling better and making progress aren’t the same thing,” White said. “We want to ensure she feels good and confident without putting her in a risky situation… That’s the main focus right now.”
