Caitlin Clark Elbowed in the Face During Brutal Loss

If Wednesday night's matchup between Caitlin Clark's Fever and the Las Vegas Aces was any preview of the WNBA Championship Series, Indiana still has a lot of work to do.

Clark was shooting uncharacteristically poorly and, to make matters worse, he was elbowed in the face by Vegas' Jackie Young while trying to grab a rebound in the third quarter.

Young was fouled on the play, but Clark argued it should have been upgraded to a Flagrant 1.

But in fairness, there are some complications to that argument. First, replays show that Clark's hand clearly touched Young's face before Young's elbow hit Clark, and if the elbow caused so much pain in Clark's face, why did Clark grab his stomach?

After all, both fighters hit each other unintentionally.

What followed was a performance from both players worthy of the Las Vegas stage, and despite a foul on Young, the result remained the same.

Clark finished with 16 points on 6-of-22 shooting and 1-of-10 3-pointers.

“I feel like I was held back and had a lot of contact during the game … that's the way it is … I could use my quickness a little better,” Clark said of the referee's calls after the game.

The Fever will face the Aces again on Friday.
