Indiana Fever Guard Kate Rinklerk Returns After Injury
The Indiana Fever recently announced that guard Kate Rinklerk has made her return to the court after being sidelined for five consecutive games due to a quad injury.
Rinklerk, the 2024 Rookie of the Year, initially suffered the injury during a close 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty on May 24. Although her recovery was estimated at two weeks, she’ll actually be back in action after three weeks off.
“She’s back,” the Fever shared on Instagram. “Katelyn Clark, I’m ready to play against New York tomorrow.”
Head coach Stephanie White mentioned on Monday the team’s readiness to start a backup but didn’t confirm whether Clark, who has been out since May 30, had received clearance for play. On Thursday, she noted that both Clark and Sophie Cunningham, who has also missed significant time, participated in limited drills.
When on the floor this season, Clark has been impressive, averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists, and 6 rebounds in her four games. Her presence is particularly crucial as the Fever maintain a commendable 9-0 record, remaining undefeated against teams in their Eastern Conference. They recently celebrated an 85-66 victory over the Chicago Sky, bolstered by Sabrina Ionescu’s standout performance of 23 points.
Looking ahead, White expressed hope for Cunningham’s return this weekend, which could further strengthen the team.
