Caitlin Clark Is the Fourth Most Popular Athlete in America

WNBA breakout star Kaitlyn Clark is currently the fourth most popular athlete in America, according to data provided by ESPN.

ESPN’s Flora Kelly points out that the network’s personalization data showed the Indiana Fever star rocketing into the top five, coming in at No. 4 behind LeBron James, Tiger Woods and Stephen Curry.

For someone who just graduated from college and has only been a professional athlete for a few months, this is an incredible feat.

But Clark’s power and ability to draw fans is undeniable. The WNBA had struggled to attract audiences for 30 years, but Caitlin Clark put the league on the map almost overnight, tripling its television ratings and arena attendance.

Her appearance last weekend in Georgia forced the Atlanta Dream to abandon their tiny 3,500-seat venue and schedule a Dream Fever game at the local NBA team’s arena, after she drew more than 17,000 fans.

Fans responded, breaking WNBA television ratings records and drawing record-breaking viewership across all networks broadcasting WNBA games.

Clark’s star power has also helped many of the 2024 rookies, including Nika Muhl, Kate Martin and Angel Reese, gain new fans.
