Caitlyn Clark had a feeling something big would happen.
The Indiana Fever player and devoted fan tuned in with over a million others to watch the much-anticipated episode of “New Heights” on Wednesday. Midway through the show, Taylor Swift experienced a glitch that left many viewers surprised.
“We broke the internet,” Clark, who is 23, posted on X in reaction to her earlier inquiry about whether YouTube would handle the traffic, noting, “I read that.” There was a bit of anticipation, perhaps a little joking around involved.”
Before things went dark on “New Heights,” Swift chatted with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, alongside his brother, Eagles legend Jason Kelce. They discussed her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Swift’s discussion came to an abrupt halt when the screen unexpectedly went black. The official “New Heights” account later posted, “We hit a glitch, but we’ll be back soon!!” on X.
Clark expressed her excitement, saying she was thrilled to have contributed to the moment, engaging with 92% of fans who were just as eager.
A big Chiefs fan herself, Clark was seen cheering alongside Swift during a Kansas City playoff game in January, where they were spotted together in a suite during the team’s 23-14 victory over the Texans.
“Taylor is so sweet and very kind,” Clark remarked on the “Swarmcast” podcast. “She reminds us that, despite our careers, we’re just ordinary people enjoying fun things.”
Kelce has been dating Swift since 2023 and they were seen together at the ERAS tour show in Indianapolis last fall, with Clark joining them. It’s worth noting that Clark, now in her second season in the WNBA, has been sidelined with an injury since July 15.
