Caitlyn Jenner Urges President Trump to Change Passport Gender Policy
Caitlyn Jenner is asking President Trump to overturn his recent directive that restricts transgender individuals from updating the gender on their passports to align with their affirmed identity.
On January 20, during the onset of his second term, the president enacted an executive order mandating that the U.S. State Department only records birth gender on passports. Several months later, the Supreme Court upheld Trump’s ability to enforce this order.
This action followed changes made by Joe Biden, which allowed transgender individuals to select their gender or the “X” option on their passports.
Jenner has voiced that these new regulations hinder transgender Americans from traveling internationally.
“I can’t travel abroad anymore,” Jenner shared during an appearance on *Tomi Lahren is fearless* podcast.
While Jenner has historically supported Trump, she disagrees with his stance on transgender issues.
The former Olympic athlete, who transitioned to female in 2015, noted that her recent passport application was rejected. It continues to classify her as male despite her request for an adjustment from ‘M’ to ‘F’, which is creating significant challenges for her. “I’m just trying to figure out what to do at this point because it causes a really big problem,” she said. “I don’t blame President Trump. I love him, but this is a big issue for many people.”
In addition, Jenner has penned a letter to Trump, advocating for a revision that would enable transgender individuals to select their gender on passports.
She believes that the Trump administration hasn’t seriously considered the passport situation.
Jenner isn’t the sole celebrity to criticize this shift in policy. *Euphoria* star Hunter Schafer expressed frustration in a lengthy video regarding the designation on his passport that inaccurately identifies him as male, exclaiming his discontent with the current administration.
