“California spectators waiting in line for College Game Day burst through the gates before the official opening,” Avinash Kunath of Write For California wrote in a post on X.
“Complete confusion At Berkeley. There is not enough security to organize the crowd. ”
Kunas shared a second video showing a “second wave” of fans breaking through the fence, estimating the crowd size to be in the “thousands” by around midnight.

If Cal wins, it will be the team's first ACC win in its first home game in its new conference. Cal is also looking for its first win against a ranked team since beating No. 21 Oregon in 2020.
