Caleb Williams already wowing Bears with incredible throw

The Bears may finally have the quarterback of the future they’ve been waiting for for years.

Caleb Williams has only just arrived at his first NFL training camp, but he’s already impressed the Bears and their loyal fans with his impressive throws and accuracy, especially with his off-platform throws on Thursday.

During one practice, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft rolled to his left before lifting his feet and throwing.

The result was as expected, as he connected with Bears’ rising star Keenan Allen on the sideline and completed an incredible pass.

“So beautiful,” the Bears’ official X account wrote in the caption above the highlight, along with a teary-eyed emoji.

Chicago fans have long anticipated a generational talent and will be eager to follow Williams’ early development.

“Beautiful,” Walter Payton’s son, Jarrett Payton, wrote to X in response to the video.

“Words can’t describe how it would make me feel if Caleb Williams made a pitch like that during a game,” another user wrote.

“Jordan Brand needs to sign Caleb Williams,” wrote another user, alongside a photo of Williams tossing the ball alongside the iconic image of Michael Jordan dunking for the Bulls, which is featured on the brand’s shoes and apparel.

Tight end Gerald Everett told reporters Wednesday that he was “attracted” to Williams just a few days into camp.

“He definitely has that element.” Everett says“He’s not afraid to run as a dual-threat quarterback and he definitely has the arm strength. He’s proven that from OTAs to now.”

“It’s great to see him grow more confident every day.”

Coach Matt Eberflus told reporters a decision will be made in the coming days on whether Williams will play in next Thursday’s preseason opener, the Hall of Fame Game.

He did say he has ideas about what the young playmaker should work on.

“The running game, the footwork and making sure we’re controlling the pace in and out of the huddle with walk-throughs and making sure all the repetitions are going well.” Eberflus said Wednesday.“Those are the two things he’s working on.”
