California Man Arrested for Lewd Behavior
A man from California, known for inappropriate conduct towards women, was arrested once again on Friday in Glendale. Police responded to reports of suspicious activity at two different businesses involving 39-year-old Calese Carron Crowder.
Officers arrived around 3:30 p.m. after a witness described seeing a man, seemingly crouched down, who was attempting to smell people. They also received a call about behavior at a clothing store near South Brand Boulevard and East Broadway. After reviewing surveillance footage from the store, the police identified Crowder as the suspect, linking him to similar inappropriate “sniffing” incidents.
Crowder’s previous run-ins with the law for lewd behavior are well-documented in nearby Los Angeles communities. For instance, in July 2025, he faced arrest after reports surfaced about a man lingering inside a department store in Burbank, California.
On that day, as detailed in a press release from the Burbank Police Department, officers were called to the Nordstrom Rack store. By the time they arrived, staff reported that the suspect had left. The police began searching for him in the surrounding area.
Eventually, Crowder was located in a nearby Walmart. Surveillance footage from the store captured him walking through the women’s section, where he was seen following a female shopper.
The police observed him crouching behind the woman and, rather disturbingly, inappropriately sniffing her. Following this observation, they detained Calese Crowder for further questioning.
Authorities have noted that Crowder is a registered sex offender currently on active parole. He’s been flagged for a long history of peeping, prowling, and burglaries in both Burbank and Glendale. In August 2023, a viral TikTok video further showcased his troubling behavior as he was filmed creeping up on a woman in a Barnes & Noble bookstore.
Delving deeper, Crowder’s criminal past stretches back even further. He was arrested in June 2011 for a string of peeping incidents and residential burglaries, subsequently receiving an 8-year prison sentence.
From 2020 to 2021, he was again suspected in multiple cases of peeping and burglaries. Glendale authorities arrested Crowder once more in September 2021 on charges of prowling and disorderly conduct.
As of Monday, police reported that Crowder is being held without bail and is facing charges for violating the.conditions of his parole.
