After California Governor Gavin Newsom posted a video of himself at the scene of the Palisades fire on his Instagram Story, many people blamed the governor for the tragedy while calling it a “photo op.” criticized for taking advantage of it.
“Gavin Newsom came for a photo shoot watching his state burn down,” the controversial TikTok Libs account wrote alongside the video.
The popular conservative X account Breaking 911 mocked Newsom for appearing under fire.
“Just in: California Governor Gavin Newsom shows up at the scene of the Palisades fire, hands in his back pockets.” sbeID.
“Governor Newsom poses for the camera with his hands in his pockets as fires engulf homes,” another account said. I wrote.
Some criticized the governor for not making progress on California's reservoir projects that voters approved a decade ago.
“Let me remind you that California voters approved a ballot measure to build more reservoirs, but Gavin Newsom hasn't done it yet,” radio host Ari Hoffman said. “As a result, millions of gallons of snow will melt and rain will flow into the Pacific Ocean.”
