A truck loaded with toilet paper rolls spilled liquid on a California highway, snarling traffic.
A huge box containing about three boxes of toilet paper fell from a Ford F-350 into the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Newhall, Calif., Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said hundreds of rolls clogged a freeway in the Los Angeles County city for hours, blocking two lanes of traffic.
Photos from the scene showed toilet paper rolls strewn across the road as law enforcement investigated the scene and tried to clear the road.
Video from SKY Fox showed CHP officers quickly trying to remove toilet paper from the lane.
Officers were seen casually throwing rolls of bathroom tissues over the embankment.
The agency said officers cleaned up the mess in about 20 minutes, but social media users were quick to make light of the ridiculous situation.
“If this had happened a few years ago, there would have been a brawl on the freeway,” one person wrote.
“Oh!” said another.
“So appropriate,” wrote another. “This whole situation is on the toilet.”
