California police refute celebrities floating arson theories as fires tear through LA

As the Los Angeles wildfires burn through parts of Southern California, destroying homes and displacing families, many are wondering how this happened.

Authorities sent arson investigators to the Pacific Palisades to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed thousands of nearby structures.

“The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under active investigation,” Los Angeles Fire Chief Christine Crowley said Thursday.

But some celebrities don't buy it.

“There's an arsonist here in Los Angeles” actor Henry Winkler wrote on Wednesday to. “May you be beaten beyond recognition! The pain you caused!!!”

Actress Alison Sweeney simply replied, “I agree.”

Singer Chris Brown posted on his Instagram Story Thursday, “Someone's starting a fire. S—don't add up.”

Dancing with the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd shared the following tweet originally posted by political and cultural media personality Xavier Dursault: Keep your eyes peeled. ”

Television personality Elizabeth Chambers reposted a screenshot of a report showing people allegedly starting a fire.

“This feels so much more than nature,” she wrote. instagram stories.

Celebrity podcaster and neuroscientist Andrew Huberman said: X video It purports to show a group of people standing near what appears to be a new fire in Santa Monica.

“People are lighting fires in areas of Los Angeles that aren't burning,” Huberman claimed in X along with the video. “We don't need more flames here. Some of them started a fire…The tree caught fire, the palm tree caught fire.”

Despite the claims, the Los Angeles Police Department told Fox News Digital that they have “not received any reports of arson.”

As of Thursday, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Malone announced that the Eaton and Palisades fires are 0% contained. The Eaton Fire spread to 10,600 acres (16.5 square miles) and the Palisades Fire reached 17,234 acres (27 square miles).

Another wildfire in Acton is 40% contained, Marrone said. The fire was confined to only 348 acres.

Firefighters also were able to stop the Sunset Fire from advancing in the Hollywood Hills, officials said.

Approximately 180,000 people have been evacuated from their homes, and another 200,000 are under evacuation orders.

Billy Crystal, Anna Faris, Sandra Lee, Paris Hilton, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Pratt are among the long list of celebrities who have lost their homes.
