Police say four stabbings occurred in a nine-hour period in Long Beach, California, over the weekend.
Long Beach Police say the department has increased its presence in response to stabbings that occurred Saturday night and early Sunday morning. city news service.
“The LBPD will deploy additional police today, including patrol officers and Neighborhood Safety Bike Team officers, to work with residents and businesses,” the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement to FOX 11 on Sunday.
The first stabbing occurred Saturday around 6:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, where police say an altercation led to a man being stabbed multiple times in the upper body. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

The victim was hospitalized and is said to be in stable condition.
The next stabbing was reported around 2 a.m. Sunday when officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Second Street in Belmont Shore after an argument between two men escalated. The suspect stabbed the victim in the upper body, and the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
Another assault occurred around 2:20 a.m., after which officers responded to a local hospital for two victims who were admitted to the facility with stab wounds.
A preliminary investigation revealed that two women allegedly got into an argument with another woman in the 200 block of Pine Avenue downtown and stabbed the victim in the upper body. Both victims were listed in stable condition.

Officers searched the scene but could not find a crime scene.
The fourth stabbing was reported around 3 a.m. in the 5100 block of Second Street, police said. This was the same location as the second stabbing, but police said the two attacks did not appear to be related.
Police said the victim was involved in an argument with a group of women outside that escalated, with one of the female suspects punching the victim, and then a second female suspect stabbing the victim in the upper body. The victim was taken to the hospital, where his condition was stable.
