A California utility is investigating irregularities in equipment as a possible cause of the fatal Eaton fire that erupted last month and destroyed thousands of homes.
The Edison Company in Southern California looks to see if video evidence that appears to show two flashes of light near Eton Canyon would illuminate a catastrophic flame on January 7th He said he led him to do so. According to a submission to the California Public Utilities Commission.
Utilities are also looking to see if inactive transmission lines have been energized near the location where the fire occurred.
SCE, a subsidiary of the $25 billion company Edison International, added to its report that its investigation has yet to confirm the link between its equipment and the fire.
“We don't know yet what the cause of the Eaton Wildfire is, but SCE is investigating all possible investigations, including the possibility that SCE equipment may have been involved,” Pedro J. Pizzaro said. He said in a statement.

Eaton Fire burned more than 14,000 acres, destroying nearly 10,000 homes, businesses, schools and other structures, killing 17 people in the Altadena area of Los Angeles County.

The Hearst Fire tore 800 acres along the outskirts of Santa Clarita, damaging two homes, and was completely locked up on January 16th. No deaths have been reported.
