A California store has developed a unique security system to thwart the brazen and ruthless thieves who have recently broken into the store and caused damage and damage to the store.
Roman Gonzalez, owner of Fresno-based DripOnDrip, was heartbroken in November 2023 when a group of robbers broke into his old shoe store and looted a weapon full of merchandise.
So he implemented a simple but foolproof plan to keep his products out of the hands of unwanted late-night customers.
Instead of locking up his store with military-style locks, Gonzalez clears out the store's display floor every night and moves the empty cash register to the front of the store, where it can be seen from the outside.
On Dec. 30, just after 4 a.m., two white sedans pulled up in front of the store, one of the drivers plowed into the store, and several masked and hooded men attempted to enter the store. A hole was created.
Security cameras throughout the store recorded the brazen robbery, and video footage showed the unidentified attacker's shock when he realized he had nothing to steal. Retrieved by KSEE.
Gonzalez mocked the thoughtless actions of the would-be robbers who destroyed the storefront.
“If I had looked through the window, I would have saved time and effort,” the shop owner told the publication. “They would have noticed that there was nothing on the floor here to take with them.”
Gonzalez intentionally leaves out the wall display of shoes for his right foot.
“This shoe has no value once you wear it. That means you can't even buy shoes for your left foot online. Therefore, you can't use the item or resell it. It's completely pointless. ” added Gonzalez.
The thieves did take several backpacks and two worthless right-footed shoes that were lying around.
Monday's break-in wasn't the first time Gonzalez's store has been vandalized by thieves, but he's still getting used to it.
“When I look at the buildings that I work on almost every day… all I see is damage. It's shocking,” he said.
The thief triggered an alarm and alerted River Park Shopping Center security, who immediately rushed to the store.
By the time Gonzalez arrived at 6 a.m., the store was boarded up.
Thanks to the quick response of the complex security personnel, the kind owner felt safe enough to continue operating in the area due to their presence, the same media reported.
River Park confirmed to KSEE that additional security will be in place to patrol the shopping center at night.
Gonzalez is considering installing safety poles in front of his store to stop cars from driving on the sidewalk.
