A powerful storm passed through California on Saturday and continued to move into the Southwest.
Winter weather was predicted to bring heavy rains, localized flooding, snow and blizzard conditions, and low temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service, downtown San Francisco could hit a record cold Saturday morning with temperatures of 38 degrees Fahrenheit, possibly the coldest since 2009.
In Southern California, early morning flash flood warnings were issued for Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Ventura County experienced flash flooding late Friday and could see as much as 10 inches of flooding by Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, the Los Angeles Fire Department opened its doors just down the street from the Hollywood Burbank Airport. Vehicle stuck in flooded roadAt least six vehicles were found, according to a Fox 11 report.
Shallow landslides and landslides were also expected, while flash floods could occur near wildfire-burned streams, streams and areas.
The harsh conditions left some drivers stranded on Route 17 by Friday morning, while Grapevine reopened to traffic under police escort. Much of Interstate 80 remained closed on Friday.

Evacuation alerts were issued in some areas, urging residents to prepare to evacuate immediately.
An avalanche warning has been issued for the Sierra Nevada backcountry around Lake Tahoe.

About 117,000 residents lost power Saturday morning, according to tracker PowerOutage.US.
Meanwhile, Michigan experienced one of the worst ice storms in decades, with more than 472,000 reported power outages.
The governor has called for more accountability from the state’s two largest utilities for repair work after the storm damaged power lines. Temperatures in the Detroit area were expected to drop into the high teens on Friday night and early Saturday, he said. Promises of a recovery by Sunday, when lows were expected to rise above freezing, were of little consolation.

A coast-to-coast storm has killed at least three people, including firefighters in Michigan and a pedestrian hit by a snowplow.
