Cam Ward criticizes threats directed at his family following the Titans' unsuccessful start.

Cam Ward described the social media harassment directed at his family as “weird” amid the Titans’ winless start to the season, but he believes that his performance on the field will, in the end, address much of this negativity.

The Titans’ starting quarterback responded after his sister, Chantel Ward, shared online about the threatening messages their family has been receiving. “Honestly, people can be strange,” Ward told reporters at the Titans’ facility on Wednesday. “They can say whatever they want, but I think football will resolve a lot of it. My family understands my journey and what I’ve aspired to achieve my entire life. They’re experiencing this alongside me.”

He added, “Ultimately, making plays on the field will take care of everything else.”

Ward has faced increasing criticism, particularly following Sunday’s loss to the Giants, where he threw a late-game interception that contributed to the defeat.

Post-game, Chantel shared her thoughts on those “attacking” a player’s family online. “It’s okay to critique the game and feel frustrated with the team; that’s just part of sports. But targeting a player’s sister, parents, or family for personal attacks because you’re mad about a game is a whole different matter,” she stated.

She isn’t the only one in the Ward family defending the quarterback on social media, but Ward remained firm that winning games would alleviate these issues. “I’ll tackle any challenge that comes my way. It’s really about making plays on the field. If I do my part and we come together as a team, all that negativity will diminish,” he remarked.

So far this season, Ward has completed 504 passing yards across three games, with two touchdown passes and one interception to date.
