Camryn Herriage in ICU after hit-and-run

A woman who just graduated from Texas Tech University has been fighting for her life on a ventilator for about a month after being involved in a hit-and-run accident that also killed her roommate.

Camryn Hereage, 23, was riding in a car with her roommate and several other friends when she was struck at a traffic light in Dallas on February 11th. Fox 4 Dallas reported.

Dallas police said a Ford pickup truck plowed into the back of Herage’s car just two blocks from her apartment, causing a collision.

Police said Herridge and four of his friends were rushed to a nearby hospital, but his roommate, Sarah House, died in the accident.

The 23-year-old graduated from Texas Tech University in December and moved into an apartment in Dallas near a close-knit group of friends with whom she frequently communicates. A movie using TikTok.

Her sister, Casey Campanello, accused the hit-and-run driver of “careless behavior.”

“Literally, a careless act put us in a situation that changed our lives forever,” Campanello told the outlet. “We’re so helpless and just have to stay strong for her, but it’s very hard to see.”

Her sister has been at her bedside for weeks waiting for her to wake up.

“I know everyone. We all cry every day over this, but we try not to do it in the room with her,” Campanello said.

Police arrested a woman on suspicion of causing the accident and fleeing the scene. Police said the driver, identified as 27-year-old Carmen Guerrero, was driving 110 mph in a 35 mph zone.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, bystanders who witnessed the crash called 911 and reported seeing a woman emerge from the cab of the truck “wearing a little black dress and white club shoes” and “extremely intoxicated.” I reported that it appeared to be there.

Detectives reportedly found Guerrero’s wallet in an abandoned truck last week and took him into custody.

Campanello said her sister’s recovery is her main focus, not the investigation or Guerrero’s forgiveness.

“When she finished her first surgery, the surgeon told us that he had never seen anyone taken to the hospital with her injuries,” she said. “So she has a purpose.”

Guerrero faces multiple charges, including manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

She is being held in the Dallas County Jail.
